If you read the Scope of Practice for registered fitness professionals, we will not see anything specifically about Pregnant women. So, can you safely train your client who’s pregnant?

According to the staff at BCPRA, the BCRPA Personal Trainer (PT) Scope of Practice does not cover Pre-natal (pregnant women) since it is a specialty area. What this means is that you may need additional certifications to prove that you have the qualifications to train this individual.

Recommendation: you should have private insurance as a personal trainer, as the BCRPA fitness leader does not cover Pre-natal training. To make sure that you are covered, we suggest that you check with your insurance provider for confirmation.

I’m not a personal trainer yet!

Not applicable to you yet?
