Have you ever thought about wanting to become a BCRPA certified yoga instructor in BC? Feeling like you need a change of pace and embark on a new journey? Maybe it is time for something new and different. Regardless of your reason, now is a perfect time for you to get studying!
BCRPA Certified Yoga Instructor
To become a certified instructor in BC, you will need to follow these simple steps:
Step 1: Study and Prepare for Your Fitness Theory Exam
Before you do anything, you should prepare and study for your BCRPA Fitness Theory exam. Some people may opt to challenge the exam directly. However, it is ideal to understand what is on the Fitness Theory curriculum before taking the exam. Even if you understand anatomy and physiology, you may not be able to answer all of the questions.
This is where we come in! We understand that it can be challenging to get started in a new field. Therefore, we created the BC Fitness Theory course just for you. It is a comprehensive, straightforward course with hundreds of questions designed to help you understand the important concepts and terminology. We have a free-trial component as well – why not give it a shot before you enroll?
Step 2: Create an Account with BCRPA
Before registering to take your exam, make sure you create an account on The Registry. This is where you will manage your fitness leader account. If you need help, read the user manual for more info.
Step 3: Take the Exam!
Once you have completed our course and feel comfortable taking the exam, you will need to purchase the exam. The total cost is $110 (inclusive of the $80 exam fee + $30 ProctorU fee). Go to “Exam History,” then “Purchase Exam.” Payments can be made via credit card. Soon you will receive an email about how to book your exam session.
Just find a quiet space, at home or anywhere without anyone around! One thing to note – you can only take the exam on your desktop or laptop; other devices are not supported. You will need to make sure that your camera, microphone, and speakers are functional. Do not forget to check your internet connection too! In case you do not know, the exam will be online.
Step 4: Obtain CPR and Standard First Aid Certification
At the very minimum, you will need CPR level A and either Standard First Aid certification or Emergency First Aid certification. You could do this before or after you pass your Fitness Theory exam. Once you pass, record this into your Registry account. You will need it during your specialty module.
Step 5: Buy Your First Year Registration
Congrats! You are one step closer to become a Yoga Instructor! You will need to purchase your first-year registration for $109. From the day you pass your Fitness Theory exam, you will have 1 full year to register. Afterwards, you will need to pick a specialty module to complete (i.e. Yoga Fitness). If you do not register within that time period, you will need to redo your exam.
Yoga Fitness Instructor Specialty Module
Next, you will need to complete your specialty module. You will need to enroll in a course and complete an instructor competency exam (ICE) and a practicum. Visit here for your forms.
