The first step to getting your certification is taking the Exercise Theory course. Once you have finished preparing, you will need to take the actual exam. What is FNB?
FNB is a provincial organization that is under the umbrella organization National Fitness Leadership Alliance or NFLA. Choosing FNB is an excellent choice, as you can always transfer your certification if you move across Canada, even around the world! Certifications under FNB are recognized throughout NB, so you never have to worry about whether employers will accept it or not!
FNB Exercise Theory Exam
One of the first steps is to begin studying for the Exercise Theory exam. But what is Exercise Theory anyway? Exercise Theory is a prerequisite to certifications such as personal training. Before obtaining certificates, FNB wants to make sure that you have basic knowledge of various topics. This includes anatomy, physiology, exercise safety, and program planning. Having a baseline level of expertise ensures that anyone entering the fitness industry meets the fitness instructing standard.
Exercise Theory covers a broad spectrum of topics that you use every day as a fitness instructor. Different sections of the exam will cover one topic more than the other. Some topics like anatomy, physiology, and movement mechanics can cover as much as over 60% of the ten topics!
