Recently, AFLCA has undergone new changes! Find out what has changed and whether the AFLCA exam is still the same!
AFLCA (Fitness Alberta)
AFLCA or Alberta Fitness Leader Council Association have rebranded themselves as Fitness Alberta. So, what is different about them now?
The layout of the website has completely changed. The colours scheme is also different now – rather than the red, Fitness Alberta went with a bluer theme. The website is easier to navigate and more organized than before. Everything can be found on the drop-down menu on the right-hand side. But if you still can’t find what you need, you can use the search bar up top!
Why Fitness Alberta?
Fitness Alberta has a community of certified fitness instructors that work in over 200 Alberta communities. Those with Fitness Alberta certifications can work in public recreation centres, private gyms, or fitness agencies. Best of all? Fitness Alberta ensures that you meet the standards recognized across Canada and internationally once you are certified. Since Fitness Alberta is under NFLA, you can freely transfer your certification if you move across Canada. If you happen to move to a different country, you can also check international partners to see if you can work overseas!
Lucky for everyone, all the AFLCA certifications will be the same and valid. For example, if you were taking the personal training course or you are a personal trainer, nothing has changed. The only thing that will change is upon renewals; instructors will have updated certification cards with the new name and logo.
AFLCA Exam: Exercise Theory
Exercise Theory is now called Foundations in Physical Activity and Exercise. Even though the name is different, everything is still the same as before. This includes the ten topics, for example:
- Anatomy
- Physiology
- Movement mechanics
- Weight management and nutrition
- Leadership
