As the population ages and becomes more health-conscious, the demand for older adult fitness continues to rise. In this article, we’ll be discussing the path to becoming an Older Adult Fitness Leader.
We wrote about this topic in the past, but the steps are as follows:
Step 1: Become a Registered Fitness Leader
Step 2: Register for Weight Training or Group Fitness modules
Step 3: Specialize in Older Adult (OA) Fitness module
Once you’re a registered fitness leader, you can start to specialize in OA Fitness by taking further education.
Just like the Personal Trainer specialization, an exam portion (25/30 or 83.3% to pass) and an ICE practicum must be completed with an approved instructor.
Step 4: Register with the BCRPA as an Older Adult (OA) Fitness Specialist
From here, you’re well-positioned to work with older adults and help them achieve their fitness goals while achieving your own financial goals.
