Students tell us that their BCRPA certification expired but still want to get back into teaching. So, what happens when this happens? This post will help you figure out what you should do when you are in this situation.

BCRPA Certification Expired Between 1 Day to 12 Months

If you are in this situation, you are in luck! BCRPA has removed the late registration fee, but you will still need to make sure you complete all of the following:

  • Earn 12 CECs (fitness leaders) or 16 CECs (STLs/TFLS)
  • Make sure your CPR certification is updated, with the minimum CPR level A
  • First Aid certification either Emergency or Standard First Aid
  • Pay registration fee of $165 for 2 year membership

Once everything is completed, you will have two years before you need to renew your membership. Just remember to renew your membership before it expires!

Expired between 1 to 2 years

Those who have certifications expired in this category will need to follow the checklist in the above situation + complete their ICE. However, you will only need to go through the practical portion under your desired specialty. If you are an STL/TFL, you will need to re-do a Shadow ICE. Once you have successfully gone through all the steps, you will need to pay the registration fee of $165/2 years.

Expired between 2 years to 5 years

You will need to complete everything under the first category, with the completion of the entire ICE package. For STL/TFL, you will need to redo-a Shadow ICE and retake any ICE workshops. Please note that personal trainers will need to complete ICE packages under Weight Training and Personal Training. The registration fee is the same as the above two categories.

Expired over 5 years

Since many things change in 5 years, it is important to have the highest level of training! If you fall in this category, you will need to refresh your knowledge from the beginning. To help support your goal, we have designed a stress-free BCRPA Fitness Theory course to help you brush up your knowledge.
